Your Fed, Your Voice: Pastor Andre Alexander
[MUSIC PLAYING]
My name is Andre Alexander, pastor of the Tabernacle and president of Tabernacle Community Development Corporation.
Being a part of CDAC has changed how I view my work in the economy in great scale. First off, I have a better context of how the work that we do impacts the economy. Secondly, it’s also helped me to learn more about monetary policy. And so I see the St. Louis Fed helping bridge the gap between everyday people and economists to make sure that we’re making sound decisions for everybody and not just select groups.
I partnered with them because I believe it’s what I call a “win-win” relationship. I get to learn more about economics and what I believe is to be a real part of change. And then, also, they learn what's really happening at a community level, what’s happening with people. And I think that together allows us to then make change over time, not only this neighborhood, but in our region and everywhere where the St. Louis Fed touches.

Pastor Andre is a member of St. Louis Fed’s Community Development Advisory Council (CDAC). The council was created to inform the St. Louis Fed president and Community Development staff about relevant issues in the Eighth Federal Reserve District and to suggest ways the Bank might support local development efforts. In this video, Pastor Andre discusses the Fed’s work in our region. He talks about how the advisory council gives the St. Louis Fed community-level connections and insights to enable positive change.
