As required by the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, each Federal Reserve bank is supervised by a board of directors. These boards are composed of three classes of directors (A, B and C) with three members in each class who are from outside the Reserve bank and are familiar with economic and credit conditions in their respective Federal Reserve district.
Each Reserve bank branch also has a board of directors. The Board of Governors appoints some branch directors, and the Reserve bank appoints the others.
For information on diversity, demographics and sector representation of Reserve bank directors across the System, please see the Board of Governors’ website.
