Blackout Periods

Federal Reserve policy limits the extent to which FOMC participants and staff can speak publicly or grant interviews during Federal Reserve blackout periods, which begin the second Saturday preceding a Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting and end the Thursday following a meeting.

Blackout dates for 2017 are as follows:

Jan. 24-Feb. 2
March 4-16
April 22-May 4
June 3-15
July 15-27
Sept. 9-21
Oct. 21-Nov. 2
Dec. 2-14

Blackout dates for 2018 are tentatively scheduled as follows:

2018:
Jan. 20-Feb. 1
March 10-22
April 21-May 3
June 2-14
July 21-Aug. 2
Sept. 15-27
Oct. 27 – Nov. 9
Dec. 8-20
