Your Fed, Your Voice: Nishesh Chalise
When the economy is doing really well, do you think everybody in the country is also doing well? Hi, my name is Nishesh Chalise. I'm a senior manager at the Community Development department here at the St. Louis Fed.
The Fed's mission is to promote a resilient and a strong economy for everyone. I like to think about the community development work at the St. Louis Fed as a cycle of listen, learn and respond. Sometimes it will look like a survey where we are asking about what are the economic conditions in their communities. Sometimes it will look like a roundtable where we have eight to 10 constituents, stakeholders come in and share what are the challenges that they are seeing. What are the opportunities that they are seeing?
We do a lot of one-on-one outreach where we are meeting and building that relationship because a lot of this work to move it forward depends upon those relationships. We use the nonpartisan convening power of the Fed and then think about, OK, how do we overcome these challenges as a community. And so we set the table but let the conversation happen. I wake up every day and get excited because I get to be a part of that story and that narrative.
