Subhayu Bandyopadhyay is an economic policy advisor in the Research division of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, which he joined in May 2007. His recent work has applied micro-theoretic tools to analyze topics such as trade and offshoring policy, enforcement policy against unauthorized immigration, and effects of terrorism on trade. He received his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Maryland, College Park. His research has been published in Journal of Conflict Resolution, Journal of Development Economics, Journal of International Economics, and Journal of Public Economics, among others. He is an associate editor of Economics and Politics and has previously served as the editor of the St. Louis Fed Regional Economist. He is a research fellow at IZA (Institute for the Study of Labor), Bonn, Germany. Previously, Bandyopadhyay was an associate professor of economics at West Virginia University in Morgantown. He has taught international trade at the undergraduate and graduate levels at Washington University in St. Louis and Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, respectively.
