In Macro Musings Podcast, President Bullard Discusses Inflation, Monetary Policy and More

St. Louis Fed President James Bullard addressed a wide range of topics during a Macro Musings podcast interview. For instance, he discussed how he became interested in macroeconomics and what it is like to be the president of a Federal Reserve Bank. In addition, he talked about what drives inflation and why inflation has been below the Fed’s 2 percent target in recent years. The interview also included a discussion of alternatives to inflation targeting, such as price level targeting and nominal GDP targeting. The interview concluded with a discussion of current monetary policy, in which President Bullard shared his views on reducing the size of the Fed’s balance sheet and his outlook for the federal funds rate target.
