St. Louis Fed President James Bullard discussed several aspects of the U.S. financial sector, including community bank regulation and financial technology (or fintech), during an American Banker podcast. He also shared his views on monetary policy, low inflation and ways to further increase Fed transparency.
Regarding inflation, he noted that it had looked poised at the beginning of the year to move up toward the Fed’s 2 percent target, but instead it has moved down. He cited low inflation expectations as one factor that is keeping inflation low.
