St. Louis Fed Hosts Virtual Women in Economics Symposium for High School, College Students
ST. LOUIS — Economics can influence public policy, shape business strategies and guide personal decisions. The Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis encourages students to explore opportunities by attending the Women in Economics Symposium 2021: A Virtual Event.
“Women are underrepresented in economics, and we are actively working to change that. We want students to know the field is for everyone,” said Mary Suiter, St. Louis Fed economic education officer. “This event is designed to inspire and inform women interested in studying economics and to encourage those pursuing a degree to persist. They’ll network with prominent women making a difference, as well as with others studying economics—hopefully creating connections that will support them in their careers.”
When: 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 17 and Feb. 18.
Who should attend: The free symposium, now in its fourth year, is especially relevant for high school students, college students and educators. It is open to anyone curious to learn how studying econ can provide tools to tackle real-life problems.
