During this Delta Communities meeting, we will explore the complex and evolving resources in the field of small-business financing.

Small businesses represent a significant portion of the local economy, but how can communities create economic growth through entrepreneurship? How can the Delta region advance small-business development?

Meet representatives from local institutions that are engaged in supporting entrepreneurs and startups, lending to small businesses, and assisting with small-business growth and expansion. Participants will also see a demonstration of new interactive data tools created by the St Louis Fed that may provide insight on small-business financing. Presenters include:

  • Mike Eggleston, Community Development Advisor–Finance, Federal Reserve Bank of St Louis
  • Jerome Gentry, Business Development Officer, LiftFund
  • Timothy Lampkin, CEO, Higher Purpose Co.
  • Lisa Locke, Community Development Advisor–Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Federal Reserve Bank of St Louis
  • John-Michael Marlin, Community Outreach Coordinator–North Mississippi, Renaissance Community Loan Fund
  • Deborah Temple, Director of Lending, Communities Unlimited Inc.

Participation in this event is free; however, registration is required by Monday, June 11, as space is limited. Lunch will be provided.

Delta Communities Initiative

With an aim of strengthening communities across the Arkansas and Mississippi Delta region, the St. Louis Fed launched the Delta Communities initiative to build awareness through regional forums of promising tools and strategies for community and economic development. The meetings feature presentations from St. Louis Fed staff and regional and national representatives with experience in building and sustaining community and economic development efforts.

Representatives from financial institutions, nonprofit organizations, small businesses, chambers of commerce, government entities and other local leaders are welcome to participate. While the forums are held in Clarksdale, Miss., leaders from communities across the Delta region are encouraged to attend.
