Hosted by the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, these Delta Communities meetings seek to bring together local leaders to talk about how communities have worked together to build local and regional leadership for community and economic development.
Successful initiatives start with a foundation of strong teams, which are built on the foundation of three core principles—community engagement, leadership and collaboration. Participants at this session will learn about a new resource from the St. Louis Fed—Coming Up with the Money: Core Principles for Launching a Successful Community Development Initiative—and will receive information about best practices for building the right team and relationships for community and economic development.
These meetings are very similar in format and content; please register for either the event in Greenwood or the one in Helena.
Participation is free; however, registration is required by Thursday, Sept. 8, as space is limited. Lunch will be provided.
For more information, please contact Kathy Moore Cowan at 901-531-5110 or kathy.m.cowan@stls.frb.org.
With an aim of strengthening communities across the Arkansas and Mississippi Delta region, the St. Louis Fed has launched the Delta Communities initiative to build awareness of promising tools and strategies for community and economic development through regional forums. The meetings will feature presentations from St. Louis Fed staff and regional and national representatives with experience in building and sustaining community and economic development efforts. Six forums, each of which will take place in both Arkansas and Mississippi, have been scheduled through the beginning of 2017, with additional dates to be announced later. Themes for the current slate of Delta Communities forums include or have included:
Representatives from financial institutions, nonprofit organizations, small businesses, chambers of commerce, government entities and other local leaders are welcome to participate. While the first six forums will be in Greenwood, Miss., and Helena, Ark., leaders from communities across the Delta region are encouraged to attend.
