Teaching Economics: A Pre-Service Teacher Workshop

Registration for this event is now closed.

In the state of Kentucky, 20 percent of the social studies content standards are based on economics. Do you feel ready to teach this content? Do you know the best teaching practices and methods for teaching economics? This workshop for pre-service elementary and secondary school teachers introduces economic concepts and demonstrates how to teach them. Attendees will receive:

  • classroom-ready (you can start to use these while student teaching), standards-based, printed curriculum materials with whiteboard applications;
  • interactive, hands-on instruction;a copy of How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World by Marjorie Priceman –or– Meet Kit: An American Girl by Valerie Tripp (depending on your intended in-service grade level) for their classroom library;
  • information on where additional resources for teaching economics can be found, both online and in print; and
  • a certificate of completion.

Dinner will be served, and validated parking is available. This event is free, but registration is required by March 9, 2015.
