In this lesson, students interpret primary sources and participate in a simulation to learn about the mercantilist system used in British North America. Students discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the system and explain how it affected the economic and societal development of the British North American colonies. From this lesson, students also are able to describe how mercantilism and the Navigation Acts helped moved the colonies toward revolution.
