Federal Stimulus Spending and the Private Sector: Audience Q&A

Among other questions, audience members asked what amount of national debt is too high, about the effects of foreign ownership of national debt and about the possible effects on interest rates of the Fed’s planned gradual reduction of its balance sheet. Fielding the questions were: Cletus Coughlin, senior vice president and chief of staff to St. Louis Fed President and CEO James Bullard; Bill Dupor, an assistant vice president in Research at the St. Louis Fed; and Kevin Kliesen, business economist and research officer.
