St. Louis Fed Economic Education Team Earns Seven NAEE Awards
ST. LOUIS – Members of the St. Louis Fed’s Economic Education Department have been selected for several awards by the National Association of Economic Educators (NAEE).
The educators will receive the awards at the NAEE’s conference in Atlanta March 6-8.
Andria Matzenbacher will receive the Abbejean Kehler Technology Award for utilizing technology to improve the delivery of programs in economic education.
Amanda Geiger, Jennifer Ives and Donna Stiller will receive a bronze award for the learning activity they developed for career evaluation and a silver award for the Page One reading guide “What Should College Athletes Be Paid?”
Mike Kaiman will receive a gold award for a lesson on general economics entrance/exit tickets.
Mary Suiter, who retired as the head of economic education at the St. Louis Fed in 2023, will receive the Bonnie T. Meszaros Curriculum Leadership Award.
Andrea Caceres-Santamaria and Suiter will receive a gold award for their lesson “Spending, Saving, and Income: Save It!”
Curt Anderson and Scott Wolla will receive a platinum award for their “Teaching Market Structures with a Competitive Gum Market” project.
“This was a record year for the number of awards and the scope of recognition that the team received. I am deeply proud of their work, collaboration and dedication to our mission of increasing economic and financial literacy in students by equipping educators with knowledge and classroom resources,” said Wolla, head of economic education at the St. Louis Fed.
The St. Louis Fed’s Economic Education Department provides teachers, schools and school districts with programs and resources to improve student understanding of economics and personal finance. Econ Ed at the St. Louis Fed offers more than 400 free educational resources about economics, personal finance, money and banking.
