The Economic Impact of Natural Disasters: Audience Q&A

November 13, 2017

Among other questions, audience members asked why so many households affected by hurricanes had no flood insurance; if the hurricanes in 2017 had a big effect on national debt; and if the use of resources for rebuilding had an effect on other sectors of the economy.

Answering the questions were William R. Emmons, an assistant vice president and lead economist at the Center for Household Financial Stability; Kevin Kliesen, business economist and research officer; and Julie Stackhouse, executive vice president and managing officer of departments including Supervision and Community Development.
