The Central West End
The conference will take place at the Chase Park Plaza, located in the Central West End of St. Louis. While many city neighborhoods in St. Louis and elsewhere in the United States are struggling with a decline in population, commerce and appearance, the Central West End is reaping the benefits of a renaissance. Property values continue to increase dramatically, and new residential units are seemingly on every block.
The neighborhood encompasses Forest Park, the site of the 1904 World's Fair; the St. Louis Art Museum; The Muny, the nation's oldest and largest outdoor theater; the world-renowned St. Louis Zoo; the St. Louis Science Center; the Missouri Historical Society (history museum); and the magnificent Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis.
Shops, restaurants, sidewalk cafes, nightspots, bookstores and coffee shops are an easy walk from the Chase Park Plaza. The neighborhood web site has a photo tour and a plan for a walking tour.
Staying over the weekend
The Chase Park Plaza is offering the conference rate to attendees who would like to extend their stay over the weekend. Most of the cultural institutions and attractions in Forest Park, including the museums and zoo, are free.
