Barger Elected, Bridges Re-Elected to St. Louis Fed Board
St. Louis J. Stephen Barger, executive secretary-treasurer
of the Kentucky State District Council of Carpenters in Frankfort,
Ky., has been elected to a three-year term on the board of directors
of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. He previously served as
chairman of the board of directors of the St. Louis Fed's branch
in Louisville, Ky. Barger is also a member of the executive committee
of the International Foundation of Employee Benefits and the Kentucky
Council on Postsecondary Education.
Lunsford W. Bridges, chief executive officer of Metropolitan National
Bank in Little Rock, Ark., has been re-elected to a three-year term
on the St. Louis Fed's board of directors. Bridges is also a member
of the boards of directors of Fifty for the Future, the Greater
Little Rock Chamber of Commerce, and the St. Vincent Development
Foundation.
With branches in Little Rock, Louisville and Memphis, the Federal
Reserve Bank of St. Louis serves the Eighth Federal Reserve District,
which includes all of Arkansas, eastern Missouri, southern Indiana,
southern Illinois, western Kentucky, western Tennessee and northern
Mississippi. In addition to serving as a bank for depository institutions
and the U.S.
government, each Reserve Bank monitors economic conditions in the
District, participates in
formulating monetary policy, and supervises state-chartered member
banks and bank holding companies to foster safety and soundness
of the District's banking and financial institutions and to protect
the credit rights of consumers.
