ST. LOUIS—Scott Wolla, economic education coordinator at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, was named the 2020 winner of the Bessie B. Moore Service Award from the National Association of Economic Educators.

The NAEE will present the award to Wolla on Feb. 28 at the NAEE Annual Professional Development Conference in Jacksonville, Fla.

Mary Suiter, assistant vice president and economic education officer at the St. Louis Fed, said, “The award is given for Scott’s service to educators across the country. He has earned this award as a result of his development of curriculum materials, delivery of workshops and programming for educators and his authorship of papers that contribute to the body of economic education literature.”

The award, created in 1986, recognizes individuals who are, or have been, affiliated with the NAEE organizations, and whose outstanding and dedicated service has had a significant impact on the delivery and enhancement of economic education, according to the organization.

The award was named for Bessie B. Moore, who “organized and conducted economic education programs that gained board and community support, operated on a sound financial basis, reached virtually all Arkansas schools and attained national recognition for teacher curriculum projects. The Arkansas program, under her leadership and skillful management, became a model for other states,” according to NAEE.

Wolla is a part of the St. Louis Fed’s Economic Education department, which provides teachers, schools and school districts with programs and resources to improve student understanding of economics and personal finance. Econ Ed at the St. Louis Fed offers more than 400 free educational resources about economics, personal finance, money and banking.
