Whether you are teaching personal finance at the high school level or are incorporating financial readiness skills in the elementary curriculum, this conference covers all the basics: content, materials and classroom activities. Each day will include both elementary and secondary curriculum sessions as well as presentations from Federal Reserve Bank economist Michael Owyang.
- The ABCs of Personal Finance: Learn the basics of personal finance.
- Personal Finance to XYZ: Join us for more in-depth sessions covering advanced topics.
All educators are invited to attend one or both days of the conference.
The conference will include hands-on lessons and activities for teaching personal finance topics such as:
- assets and the basics of stocks and bonds and portfolios;
- liabilities and the basics of mortgages, credit cards and payday loans;
- the role of money in our economy;
- borrowing, lending and credit;
- different types of payments;
- saving and spending decisions;
- risk and return; and
- investment horizons.
The Fed will provide CDs, print publications, a bibliography and more for classroom use.
Attire is business casual. Continental breakfast will be served each day at 8 a.m. and lunch is provided. The program will adjourn at 4 p.m.
Note: Attending both days of this conference will provide Tennessee educators with the 14 hours training required for endorsement by the Tennessee Department of Education to teach personal finance.
