Julie Stackhouse, senior vice president of banking supervision, credit, community development and learning innovation at the St. Louis Fed, closes the inaugural community banking research conference, “Community Banking in the 21st Century,” by highlighting some of the major discussions held during the conference. Among other topics, she notes the advantages community banks receive through social capital and the importance of community bank lending to small businesses.
