The Memphis Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis is responsible for the Bank’s operations in western Tennessee, eastern Arkansas and northern Mississippi.  One of three Eighth District branches, the Memphis Branch is located at 200 N. Main St. in downtown Memphis.

Established in 1918, the Branch has four primary functions:

1. maintain an effective advisory board of directors whose members provide input on economic conditions in areas served by the Branch;
2. coordinate the check processing needs for financial institutions;
3. coordinate the cash needs for financial institutions; and
4. coordinate outreach activities in the areas of community affairs, economic education, research and monetary policy.

Senior Branch Executive Martha Perine Beard, who has served at the Branch since 1997, leads the Branch’s community outreach efforts as the Fed seeks to expand its intellectual presence throughout the Eighth District.

NEW: Economic Conditions in the Memphis Zone Highlighted in the St. Louis Fed's Burgundy Book Report The St. Louis Fed's Center for Regional Economics—8th District (CRE8®) has begun producing a report called the Burgundy Book for each of the regions surrounding its four offices, including the Memphis Branch. The reports provide anecdotal information, along with formal data, and are released four times a year. In conjunction with the release of the reports, St. Louis Fed economist Michael Pakko provides audio commentary on several important economic indices in the Memphis zone, including consumer spending, manufacturing, real estate and construction, banking and finance, and agriculture.
